You have to read the Bible yourself if you want the Holy Spirit to guide you and open your thoughts to really receive its Wisdom. I don't take a Pastor's word for what the Bible says. I don't take the word of a TV Evangelist. I don't even trust Devotionals; they are dependent on the author's Opinion and his level of Spirituality. No, the best way to get the most out of your Bible readings is to do the reading yourself. Don't waste all your time reading books about the Bible; read the Bible.
If you are attending Church this Sunday, take your Bible; open it and follow every Scripture with the Pastor. If his Sermon is not constantly referencing actual Scripture, and doing it correctly find another Church with a Preacher who does so. Read the referenced Scripture yourself. As you read, the explanation provided by the Pastor should line up and agree with what you are reading. If it doesn't, go with the Bible, not the Preacher.
A lot of people, (too many), go to Church for Social reasons and not Spiritual ones. Laughing at funny jokes from the Pastor is fine, cute stories to open the Sermon are fine, enthusiastic Praise and Worship Music is essential to a good service; but don't think a good time makes a good Sermon. Godly Bible Teaching is the Core of good Preaching. You should Pray before the service, every service, that the Holy Spirit will give the Pastor the Words He (The Holy Spirit) wants you and your Family to hear. The Holy Spirit will always answer this Prayer. You only get the maximum value out of a service when you have Prayed for it.
The same goes for private Bible reading. When you approach a Scripture, even one you have read dozens of times; Pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you in understanding it. Wham!!! You will begin to see marvelous meaning in even the most simple of verses. There is so much we never take time to see and hear in the Bible. It is there waiting for us. Thousands upon thousands of Light Bulb Moments waiting to flash on.
Next time you hear a TV Commentator, Public Speaker, or some Politician quote a Scripture, look it up yourself. Check it out. See if what they quoted was right or a misquote. Remember, the Oldest Trick Satan has in his Bag of Tricks is to say, "yea, hath God said?". Satan wants you confused on what the Bible really says and how well you understand it. Don't let him succeed. Read your Bible.

Complacency
Complacency - a feeling of quiet pleasure or security, often while unaware of some potential danger, defect, or the like; self-satisfaction or smug satisfaction with an existing situation, condition, etc.
Within a Church setting, I have often called people infected with the disease of Complacency Pew Sitters. Pew Sitters seem to have the one lone duty within a Church of keeping their own section of their favorite pew warm. Nothing else, they don't work, don't necessarily tithe or read the Bible every day, don't teach a class, or visit and evangelize, but they do love their pew and the way their section of it is cushioned just right, and woe be to the foolish Church Member or Visitor who dares to sit in the said pew without explicit permission.
What I witnessed in Arkansas' Elections last Evening was Complacency. Very few Voters studied the differences between the True Conservative in the Race namely Jan Morgan and the Tried and Blue Democrat Politician Masquerading as a Republican Asa Hutchison. Complacent Voters failed to do their homework. Complacent Voters failed to even Vote. Only about 40% of our Registered Voters even showed up. No one cared enough to spend 12 1/2 Minutes or so of their time helping decide the future of our State.
In this election period I lamented at times that I had not funded a Huge Billboard along some major Highway for Jan Morgan. It might have reached 5,000 or more potential Voters. I see now that my investment, no matter how well intended, would have been wasted because of Complacency. Arkansas Voters were far to complacent to weigh the benefits of having a True Conservative in Office rather than the RINO we are now stuck with for another long failing term. Stuck at being one of the worst states in education, in financial growth, in highway construction and in most similar categories. Taxes will not only be higher they will be wasted on programs we didn't vote for. Asa will spend more time working for MSNBC as a News Commentator than he will working to improve Arkansas. That at least has been his Habit this past term.
Complacency cost Arkansans this Election. All Arkansans Lost. We had a chance for better Leadership. We had a chance to get rid of a Fat Cat Politician and RINO. We blew it. Thank you Jan Morgan for giving us your time, your best effort and your whole heart. That is more, by far, than we can ever expect from Asa. It is feeling more and more like the Faubus Days I once felt were long gone.

The Undeclared War in America
There is a War, an active take no prisoners war, against our American Constitutional Republic. It is being waged by a mixture of Antifa, Socialists, Communists, and Progressives and general Thugs and Scoundrels who have taken over the Democrat Party. It is the most divisive and morally destructive War since the 1st Civil War. I say 1st because this is the 2nd Civil War. A war to destroy our Constitution and install a more Socialist form of Government, based on a mistaken belief of the Liberal Masses than only Big Government can solve Social Problems. But this War is not being led by these Liberal Masses, they are but tools of the Obama Led OFA Dark State. (An Undercover Army of Political Operatives and Spies carefully appointed by Obama and his Administration Prior to the end of his second term), in fact the Appointments began during Obama's first term. His Chief of Staff and Chicago Mob Accomplice Valerie Jarrett was involved almost immediately Appointing Communists, Moslems, and shady Chicago Mafia characters to assist in the less well defined Dark State even in those early months and days.
The Dark State didn't have a name in those early days, but it was no less Dark and Deceptive. No less Dirty and Destructive. No less contrary to our Constitution and the Designs of our Founding Fathers. No less Evil.
How large is this OFA Army of Traitors? Estimates begin at 3,000 members, ranging up to 30,000 of these carefully selected appointees. One can only guess how many Obama Appointees were legitimate Government Workers and how many are working behind the scenes to destroy our Country. Leaking documents, spreading rumors, organizing tyranny, and confusion. No matter the number they are actively at work disrupting and "resisting" our legitimate government.
We see some of the OFA Discards in the News these last few months: Clapper, Comey, Mueller, Peter Strzok, and Lisa Page, have all been fired or removed from office after having their leaks exposed. But hundreds more are still working in dozens of Agencies ready to do the OFA's will. And Left Wing Journalists are complicit. Want to know the state of modern “Journalism”?

Hollywood and George Soros are complicit and are donating money to stir up Black Lives Matter and Antifa Protesters and Anti-Trump/Anti Gun rallies.
We Good Guys have not responded and Declared there even is a War on our side. Many are asleep, blindly trusting the Government to do the right thing, and not realizing we are losing far too many battles. We have to get out the Vote, support our President, get rid of RINOs in the Party, and be vigilant. We have to expose the Traitors Appointed by Obama prior to his departure and get them fired and out of their positions. We have to close down organizations like Planned Parenthood and the Clinton Foundation and the dozens of George Soros funded groups. And lastly we have to demand a higher standard in Journalism. Our Country is in Danger of not having even a single source of Fair and Balanced News Coverage, groups like Media Matters have poisoned our Evening News even on Fox. Don't Trust Anything you see on MSNBC or CNN but be just as careful on the regular Networks, NBC, ABC, CBS and even PBS. The best TV News right now is on the Fox Business Channel and Fox and Friends early morning on Fox. Fox has also improved in Late Evening recently with Tucker Carlson, Hannity and Laura Ingram except when they allow Talking Head Clowns like Juan Williams to spew Propaganda. Williams is perhaps the Biggest Waste of Time in News Broadcasting.
